Lifestyle Design -- Your Way

Lifestyle design is a concept. It's about working out a way to live your life with intention by being in alignment with your values and purpose. It's about breaking out of the mold of the "old" or "normal" way of living such as the 9-5 corporate J.O.B. For most of us, the reality is that our work determines how we live the rest of our life. From where we live, to our circle of friends, how we eat and how we spend our free time. If you are happy with where you're at, and the "normal" life is working for you, great! If you find that you are working at a job you don't like, and come home feeling drained and unfulfilled, then it is a good time for you begin to look at designing your life more closely. Lifestyle design is about stepping outside of the status quo and intentionally designing a life that is more balanced, satisfying and joyful. That being said, how does one begin designing a new and more ideal lifestyle? The first step is to start learning about yourself. What are some of your core ideals and values? If that feels daunting, you can go online and search "examples of core values" and choose from a list. This will help you get clear on what kinds of work will be most fulfilling and you can begin to explore and take steps from there. Developing this self-awareness will be a lifelong journey, and one that will bring you the greatest satisfaction if you use it to help guide you to keep moving towards the things that you want and love in life. Once you have made it this far investigating what your ideal lifestyle will be, the next step is to start! As the saying goes, "the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." So often there are things that we want and we allow our fear to stand in the way. We all know that change is scary, but we also know that if we don't change, there is no chance of getting closer to what you want. For this reason, it's important to start and take small steps towards what you want, otherwise you will never do it. As you take these small steps, notice what works and what doesn't. The key is to course correct as you go because again, if you just think about and dream about it, it will never happen. When all is said and done, this is YOUR life. How do you want to live it? We live in a time where we have tremendous choice and opportunity to create a life that is truly of our own design. And once you've taken the time to do some self-examination, and started to take small steps in the direction of your values, your purpose, and your dreams, you will find yourself on the greatest adventures and create a life that satisfies and fulfills you. Think of the legacy you can create by becoming this kind of trailblazer and demonstrating to your loved ones how amazing taking the reins of your life with focus, determination, and clarity can be! As St. Francis of Assisi once said, "Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible"
